Life Update

Updates are few and far between, but we've been chugging along at the Jackson house.

We purchased a dining room table and bedroom furniture for our master. I'm slowly but steadily getting things organized.

We spent a week in Destin, FL. We had one night with my mom and gma and then the rest of the week to ourselves. We're really loving hitting the beach the week after Labor Day. I'm not so much loving the sun/sand rash that came home with me.

Can't believe we're already into week 6 of college football. My Rebels are 4 and 1! After a terrible Florida beat down, I'm hoping we can still win the SEC West.

I got my first Blue Apron delivery this past Saturday. I have to say the first dish was a success! I just had to make a few tweaks to the cooking time on the rice, but other than that it came out pretty great. Check out the comparison below. Tasted so good! I can't wait to try out tonight's recipe.

A few random pics below-  (Clockwise) 1. Part of my fall decor. 2. Chris and I at the Jason Isbell/John Prine show. 3, Gypsy stealing the neighbor's Mustang Convertible 4. A fall walk with my girls. 5. My heart

I'm looking forward to the season changing. Onward and upward! Happy fall y'all!

Orlando Trip

Last week I tagged along with Chris to Orlando for his work conference. It was mostly work for him, but a lot of play for me. We were able to sneak off to the Universal Parks alone Wednesday night, and then we went back Thursday morning with his work folks. They had to leave early to be back at the resort for their first meet and greet, and I stayed behind at Universal to play. I loved the new Harry Potter stuff at Universal and rideing old school classics like the E.T. ride.

Made him pose, ha.

On Friday, Chris had a full day of work events so I made my way over to Disney's Magic Kingdom bright and early. I love all things Disney and had fun solo day there. I was able to catch a lot of the shows that I'd missed the year before.

I added an Alex and Ani bracelet to my collection that I got in one of the stores in Magic Kingdom. It's the purple one in the pic above.

I also picked up the above tumbler to use for coffee. I thought it was cute without being too juvenile.

Saturday was my relaxing day. I went to the pool for a bit and took a long and glorious nap. Saturday night was the cocktail social and banquet. It was a fun night.

The theme was "Tommy Bahama" so I snagged Chris the shirt he's wearing at good ol' JCPenny.

Each seat had one of these light up sticks. Needless to say everyone was entertained by them.

I'm glad we were able to get out of town for awhile even if it meant it was a working trip for Chris. Now we are counting down the days to the start of football season and our Destin trip! Laters!

Hotty Toddy and Go Steelers!

I thought it would be fun to participate in the Tailgate Tuesday linkup hosted by Erin at LoveFunandFootball since I'm Ole Miss and Steelers obsessed.

Tailgate Tuesday

I grew up an Ole Miss fan and attended the University of Mississippi from 2001-2006. I was lucky enough to be in school when Eli Manning was our quarterback. Ole Miss football isn't just a team, it's an experience. There's no better college tailgating spot in the world as great as The Grove at Ole Miss. If you don't want to take my word for it then you can read it about in the Times and watch a video about it here

I really began to appreciate Ole Miss football as an Alum. I've sat through terrible seasons and been there for the exciting seasons like last year when we beat Alabama! I love our football team and can't wait for another exciting season!

One of the first things I learned when I began dating Chris was his love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It didn't take long for me to become a fan too! Let's be honest here, it made my life a lot easier. I didn't have a set NFL team. I more followed my Ole Miss rebels when they went pro. My enthusiasm for Ole Miss football is nada to how he feels about his Steelers. You better believe he doesn't miss a game so that usually means I don't either! We even spent our 1 year anniversary in Pittsburgh and it's in my top 5 of all time favorite trips.

That's all for now! Hotty Toddy Y'all!

Friday Stuff

1. Sitting at work listening to the rain pour down and I just want to crawl back into my bed and snuggle with this face.

2. Been listening to the new Jason Isbell album on repeat. I can't wait to see him in Memphis with John Prine in October!

3. Waiting on these pretties to be delivered. Can't wait to see if they work with our breakfast bar.

4.  So yesterday morning I was driving to work and I looked down at my left hand and saw this-

How in the world I mistook my Kendra Scott ring from my wedding band I'll never know. But my friends got a good laugh out of it!

5. Next week I'm tagging along with Chris to Orlando on his work trip. On one of the days I have one whole day to myself and I can't wait to spend it at one of the Disney Parks. After getting some good advice from Erin over at lovefunandfootball I've made my choice to spend it at Magic Kingdom.

That one time I put the moves on Donald Duck

Happy Weekend y'all!

Since March

We have celebrated birthdays and weddings, found out that we were expecting a baby, gone to St. Louis, attended concerts, hung out with friends, found out we lost our baby, grieved, lost hope, gained hope, bought a house, listed ours for sale, and now we are planning for two upcoming trips (one work related for Chris and one vacay for us).

We've had a lot of highs and lows this year. I've entered dark places that I never knew existed. I've been mad. I have gained perspective. I've learned that there's no stronger healing power than having a loving husband and snuggles from two innocent pups. I can be happy and sad at the same time, and you know what that's okay!

Just a little life update. I didn't want to share a fake and shiny one since life isn't always pretty.
